The NHS Health Check programme is a health check-up for adults in England aged 40-74. It's designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and dementia. BHR support the NHS Health Check programme by providing over 150 local authority areas with innovative Point Of Care Testing (POCT) equipment. This equipment provides healthcare professionals with teh ability to measure a patient's cholesterol in under 2 minutes negating the need for the patient to visit a phlebotonist and have a traditioanl laboratory test. As well as cholesterol analysers, BHR provides all equipment required for an NHS Health Check, including height and weight scales, blood pressure monitors, HbA1c analysers and literature.

The NHS Diabetes Prvention Programme (NHS DPP) is designed to identify those at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and aims to refer them onto a behaviour change programme. There are currently 3.4 million people with Type 2 diabetes in England with around 200,000 new diagnoses every year. The NHS aims to reduce the number of patients that develop diabetes by using behavioural interventions. BHR support the NHS DPP by supplying portable POCT equipment to programme providers. The portable equipment allows healthcare professionals to accurately measure a patient's HbA1c level within 5 minutes, from a single drop of blood obtained using a finger stick. Patients do not need to visit a phlebotonist and receive their results within minutes of testing.
