Streptatest®
The Biosynex Streptatest® is a rapid immunochromatography test for the qualitive, possible detection of group A Streptococci antigen in human throat swab specimens. The purpose of this test is to aid in diagnosis of Step A infections in patients showing typical symptoms.
Product identifier: Streptatest®, Positive Control / Negative Control
The Streptatest® enables the detection of group A Streptococci antigen through an immunochromatographic test using a sandwich capture method. The detection of the group A Streptococci antigen is made through visual representation of colour development on a test strip. Anti-Strep A antibodies are fixed in the test line zone of the membrane. The Streptococcus antigen binds to the antibodies marked with latex particles and the strip is immersed in the extraction solution. The mixture migrates along the membrane by a capillary action and interacts with the reagents on the membrane. If there are sufficient Strep A antigens in the specimen, 2 coloured lines will form in the test and control zones of the membrane.
Evaluation reports show a sensitivity of 96.8% referring to the percentage in which the test correctly identifies patients with the disease and 99% accuracy.
